our Heroes will be immersed into eight weeks of fun and learning, new friendships and memories that will last you a lifetime

Hero Activities Summer 2024

FUNSIZE HEROES - activity covers_SUMMER2023

Age Guide: Born 2015

Location: Both

Self-Defence sessions will be delivered by Instructors from the Pembroke Karate Club. In these sessions the children will be taught how to defend themselves against strikes, kicks and also basic weapons. They will learn how to avoid situations and to learn how to protect themselves. A positive and good attitude is also emphasised.

Age Guide: Born 2016-2015

Location: Both

Discover the art of circus juggling, optimising hand coordination and fun in the process. Sessions will be delivered by the amazing Juggling Art Studio, bringing onboard years of experience and knowledge in the art of juggling to our Summer.

Age Guide: Born 2017-2013

Location: Both

Coaches from the Malta Skateboarding Association will be teaching us more than just balance this Summer. This growing sport improves patience, teaches our Heroes how to fall safely, be more coordinated and enjoy a fun workout.

Age Guide: All

Location: Both

Celebrating their 10th anniversary as a dance academy, Kinetic will be joining us again to teach us fun routines and explore the beautiful world of dance.

FUNSIZE HEROES - activity covers_SUMMER2024

Age Guide: Born 2014-2013

Location: Naxxar

Having at least a basic knowledge to sew is an important life skill which is being missed by the younger generation. These fun sessions will have our Heroes explore what they can do with a sewing machine.

Age Guide: 10-11

Location: Qormi

Taekwondo helps kids become more physically active and helps the body in various ways, such as improving flexibility, cardio, and improving blood circulation. It also helps children concentrate more academically besides giving them confidence. Taekwondo is a sport that helps young children strengthen and reinforce positive lifestyle choices, offering new pathways to learn skills that they carry on into school, life, and work. Through Taekwondo, children develop social and leadership skills.

Age Guide: 2017-2016

Location: Both

Karate enhances children’s self-confidence and characters through self-defence, self-discipline and respect. Karate sessions will be delivered by Pembroke Karate Club, one of the most active and largest clubs in the Malta Karate Federation, which have many Senseis who help all their athletes grow and become more assertive. Karate not only boosts our Heroes’ physical abilities but also helps them mentally through the rigorous and planned sessions. Focus, control and empowerment are also key factors which are worked upon in the sessions.

Location: Both

Among other things, Chess teaches us that every action has a consequence. It also helps our Heroes to remain calm under pressure, focus and exercise their brain. These sessions will be delivered by experienced chess teachers.

Age Guide: 3-6

Location: Both

At these early stages of development, enhancing motor skills is the primary aim of every sport. Motor skills are at the core of any physical sport and we develop this basic skill through energising fun games and fun physical play, put their energy to good use.

Age Guide: 2019-2013

Location: Both

Football sessions will be delivered by Dribble Easy. Since 2019, they were instrumental in helping young players develop in this beautiful game. Heroes will learn basic football skills as sessions progress.

Age Guide: Born 2016-2015

Location: Both

Table-tennis increases concentration, stimulates alertness, improves coordination and develops mental acuteness. Delivered by experienced coaches who love the game.

Age Guide: 7-12

Location: Both

Keeping physically fit through fun exercises and games with our Funsize Fitness teachers. We practice balance, coordination and teamwork, using different equipment as we learn about different sports.

After the success of last summer’s sessions, Funsize Entrepreneurs returns with an improved formula. Last summer our Heroes learned the importance of delivering a product that is in demand, having enough stock for its demand and being prepared while learning to adjust. With their teammates, they will create a simple product, market and sell it. They will need to pay for raw material and also pay taxes through their earnings.

Our yoga coaches are prepared to immerse our Heroes in the calming world of yoga. These sessions are aimed at improving strength, balance and flexibility while helping in managing stress.

Age Guide: 2018-2013

Location: Both

We learn to appreciate the beauty of the Art around us as we discover various mediums through which we express our creativity. As we follow the themes of the week, we learn about various artists and become artists ourselves.

Age Guide: All

From classical to modern, from hip hop to rock, we learn to appreciate the music around us. We learn about the different instruments that make up an orchestra and we make our instruments and play them for fun.

Location: Both

Delivered by qualified teachers, these sessions aim to immerse our little Heroes in their imagination as they learn letters, words and basic sentence structure with a fun twist.

Location: Both

Creating something that flies is simply awesome. Our Heroes get to create their very own kite as they learn what it takes to make something functional and aesthetically beautiful.

Age Guide: All

Location: Both

We observe the world around us and understand how things work. By conducting various experiments, we learn about chemical reactions, physical changes and fun facts.

Nothing beats the summer heat like a splash in the pool and some water games. Prepare your swimsuits, put on your sunblock and get ready to get wet.

The love for food is something that most of us share. We engage in following these simple recipes, learning about various ingredients and making delicious food.

What can mesmerize a child more than a talking puppet? Children will follow the stories of our puppet friends as week after week we explore the different themes and learn valuable lessons.

We get dirty and explore our senses as we have fun through these tuff tray activities. Prepare your aprons as the mess is guaranteed! Sessions planned by Tuff-tasic.

Being a quick thinker and learning to be critical through fun exercises! These sessions also develop teamwork and strengthens their development.

Get ready to boost your personal and inter-personal skills. These hands-on sessions are focused at improving project based learning (learning through creating), teamwork and presentation skills.

Public speaking can be intimidating, but with the right preparation and mindset, anyone can become a confident communicator with groups of people. These sessions are aimed at preparing and giving the opportunity to our Heroes to have their presentation heard.

Supplies are Included

• All crafts, art and cooking supplies are included in the above prices.

Parents will only need to supply basic and personal tools.

• Outings are not included in fee – Outing details will be communicated at a later date.

Transport

Transport fees cover full Summer term

Transport Details and Terms

• Fees are to be paid directly to the transport operator. 30% non-refundable deposit by end May 2024 and 70% before the start of the Summer Club.

• Transport fees and are not included in the Summer Club fee.

• While it is possible to give us a different pick-up and drop off address, it is important that these addresses remain consistent.

• Transport is not available for Early drop-off extra session starting at 7:30am

• Transport is also available for late sessions finishing at 2pm however 8 seater vans may not be available.

• We will do our best to have 19 seater vans supervised however this will depend on availability. Supervision will not be available on cabs or vans up to 8 seaters.

• Good behaviour will be expected from everyone using the transport service. If bad behaviour is not corrected, transport subscription may be cancelled to ensure the safety of other children.

• Pick ups in the morning may start from 7am, depending on van size and location.

• Trips on cabs or 8 seater vans may take about 45min while trips on 19 seater vans may take 60 to 90 minutes.

• Our transport operator will try to accommodate preferred vehicle type but some areas may be restricted to one vehicle type.
