you’ll be immersed into eight weeks of fun and learning, new friendships and memories that will last you a lifetime

Hero Activities Summer 2023

FUNSIZE HEROES - activity covers_SUMMER2023

Age Guide: 9-12

Location: Both

Self-Defence sessions will be delivered by Instructors from the Pembroke Karate Club. In these sessions the children will be taught how to defend themselves against strikes, kicks and also basic weapons. They will learn how to avoid certain situations and to learn how to protect themselves. A positive and good attitude is also emphasised.

Age Guide: 5-12

Location: Both

Netball is another team sport being introduced this year at Funsize Heroes. In collaboration with the Malta Netball Association, we will explore yet another exciting sport. It improves hand-eye co-ordination and builds up muscle strength and stamina. It improves the body’s flexibility and strengthens the upper body.

Age Guide: 3-8

Location: Both

Our Heroes will experiment with basic dance moves to help them find their rhythm. The established Kinetic Dance Academy seek to inspire our Heroes with fun dance warm-ups and engaging dance routines.

Age Guide: 9-12

Location: Both

Dance TikToks will have our Heroes preparing for short “TikTok” style dance clips which we will share on our social pages. As our children grow increasingly engaged in short clips, we seek to utilise this interests to help them learn some dance skills in a fun setting that may have them fall in love with dance.

Age Guide: 3-4

Location: Both

Gymnastics helps our Heroes to develop coordination, improves flexibility, develops strength and power, while improving confidence. These introductory sessions will be delivered by Chun Gymnastics who believe that gymnastics is for everyone, from beginners to competitive gymnastics.

Age Guide: 5-8

Location: Naxxar

Taekwondo helps kids become more physically active and helps the body in various ways, such as improving flexibility, cardio, and improving blood circulation. It also helps children concentrate more academically besides giving them confidence. Taekwondo is a sport that helps young children strengthen and reinforce positive lifestyle choices, offering new pathways to learn skills that they carry on into school, life, and work. Through Taekwondo, children develop social and leadership skills.

Age Guide: 5-8 Qormi, 5-6 Naxxar

Location: Both

Karate enhances children’s self-confidence and characters through self-defence, self-discipline and respect. Karate sessions will be delivered by Pembroke Karate Club, one of the most active and largest clubs in the Malta Karate Federation, which have many Senseis who help all their athletes grow and become more assertive. Karate not only boosts our Heroes’ physical abilities but also helps them mentally through the rigorous and planned sessions. Focus, control and empowerment are also key factors which are worked upon in the sessions.

Age Guide: 5-8 Qormi, 5-6 Naxxar

Our Funsize Heroes will hit a home run as they explore this sport which is very popular in America. In this game of high concentration and great co-ordination, our Heroes will work together with their team mates.

Let’s workout together! Back by popular demand, our Funsize Fitness sessions targeted towards our younger Heroes to help them develop their gross motor skills and co-ordination through fun and exciting games and activities. They’ll jump obstacles, run with parachutes and stretch their muscles during these super fun Fitness Sessions.

Age Guide: 7-12 – Naxxar 9-12 – Qormi

Location: Both

Team spirit is at its best whilst playing this popular and super fun sport. Our Heroes will get more into the game by learning more formal rules whilst enjoying the game.

Our Funsize Heroes will get in touch with their athletic side as they run, jump and race. This sport is set to get everyone into shape whilst enjoying the outdoors.

Age Guide: 5-12

Location: Qormi

The very popular game finds its home at our newly opened location. We will teach the fundamental rules of the game whilst practicing basic skills. Teams will be formed and games will be played as our Heroes discover which position in the field suits them best.

Our older Heroes will put their talents into practice as they open their very first business. They will be taught what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur and how to manage a business. With their teammates, they will manufacture a product, market and sell it. They will need to pay for raw material and also taxes!

Our older Heroes will be immersing themselves in the world of Comics, with sessions prepared by one of the leading Maltese comic creators, Peter Magro, who will kick off the course himself with an introductory contextual lesson on comics and graphic novels. Our Heroes will then indulge in the creative process of creating their very own comics through multiple artistic elements alongside teachers by the end of the course, starting off with character design onwards.

Children will express their creative skills and imagination through visual aids and learn to appreciate beauty in all its forms. Working through various mediums, they will produce little works of art that will be kept as keepsakes for years to come.

With professional music educators and artists as part of our team, we are in the process of creating a fun musical journey for our Heroes which will help them explore their love for music and performing.

Age Guide: 7-12

Location: Both

Always be prepared! A motto which young and old should live by. We ought to give our heroes all the skills they require to live as safely as possible. Children will learn the very basics of First Aid by a trained professional who will deliver hands on and age-appropriate ways that can save a person’s life.

We will explore the themes of the week through fun, creative and environmental friendly crafts. Our Heroes will seek to use recycled materials to make their creations as colourful and useful as possible.

More hands on experiments coming this summer with our very popular Science sessions. We will explore chemical reactions, make fun explosions and make interesting discoveries.

A must-do to keep us cool! We’ll put on our swimwear and have lots of fun playing with water, water games and much much more.

The very popular cooking lessons at Funsize Heroes continue with recipes that are sure to satisfy every palate. Simple recipes that will give our Heroes the opportunity to make their own lunches or deserts.

Our little Heroes will get their hands dirty as they discover the world through their fingers. From sand to chalk to slime and paint, children will do what they love most… getting messy!

• All crafts, art and cooking supplies are included in the above prices.

Parents will only need to supply basic and personal tools.

• Three outings are not included – Outing details will be communicated at a later date.

Transport fees cover full Summer term

• Fees are to be paid directly to the transport operator before the start of the Summer Club and are not included in the Summer Club fee
